My ten months old son throws tantrums every time I snatch
something from his hand that I know is dangerous if he continues playing with.
Everything that he comes across he wants to put in his mouth including dirty
shoes and sharp objects. He wants to play with the socket but I know that is dangerous
and so I don’t allow him to play with it. He throws tantrums and cries because
he thinks I am denying something good from him. But I know everything that
seems attractive to him is not good and some are dangerous. Putting dirty shoes
in his mouth may cause diarrhea, sharp objects may prick him and sockets may
electrify him. He may cry all he wants but as a mother who loves him I will not
give him something that will hurt him.
In the same way, we as the children of God we have desires
and things we want to have, and we believe God to give us those things.
Sometimes we don’t get what we have prayed for or what we desire from God
simply not because He doesn’t want us to have them, but because He knows they
are dangerous to us, or they will not benefit us or they will cause us more
sorrow that happiness. Romans 8:28 "And
we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those
who are the called according to His purpose" You go for an
interview but you are not successful, then you cry to God for being unfair to
you. Not knowing that the job will cause you more misery that God is protecting
you from. Some women have stuck in wrong relationships praying God to grant
them the desire to marry those people, but years come and go yet nothing
happens. God doesn’t grant you that because He knows you will end up in the
divorce soon if you marry the person.
What are you crying for to God? What has made you get
disappointed that was not fulfilled? Stop and as yourself if that is truly the
desire God has for you. Ask yourself, what if God has a better job for you, a
better spouse, a better friend, a better option and so on. Choose to trust in
God today for what He has in store for you. For the plan He has for you is the
plan to prosper you and not to destroy you- Jeremiah 29:11
