This is a continuation of
Part 1. Below are more lessons we can learn from children.
Unwavering faith/Believe
Children
are not conversant with deception, betrayal or lies because they have a pure
heart. They believe all things are possible and believe anything. We need to
learn to have unwavering faith God that nothing is impossible to God and He
will do what He says He will do. Hebrews
11:16 says “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who
comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who
earnestly seek Him”.
No fear
Children
may fear falling or loud noise in their first stages of development but as they
grow they learn to trust especially in their parents. They don’t fear
rejection, failure or what people might think of them. When a child climbs a
high place and the father or mother tells him to jump he does not hesitate and
doubt the ability of the father to catch him. The child jumps excitedly in his parents’
arms because he has trust in them that they won’t let him fall. We need to
trust in God in everything and not to fear. Isaiah 41:10 says “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your
God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous”.
Children play and laugh
Yes
children play, laugh, dance and sing but us adults we are too serious. Yes life
is demanding with careers, family responsibilities, ministry, and jobs and so
on but let us not overrule the fact that life can be fun. Create time to play
and laugh just as you used to when you were a child. This will not take away
your maturity! Psalms 33:3 says “Sing to the Lord a new song; play skillfully, and SHOUT FOR
JOY”
The
sense of wonder/Amazement
The life of children is filled with
fun and excitement because of curiosity and sense of wonder they carry. They
see new things every day and have a desire to learn, and so they keep asking
parents many questions. As adults we should always look at life in awe or
amazement. Let us not take everything like is ‘as usual’. Pause for a moment
and be amazed at the stars, the sun, the moon, yourself and the creation at
large. Watch the birds, the insects, the animals and think about how they were
created, how they live and so on. This will ignite a sense of joy and
excitement in you. Exodus 15:11 says "Who is like You
among the gods, O LORD? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, Awesome in
praises, working wonders?”
Taking Naps
Children
are always energized, wake up with renewed strengths and refreshed. Children
takes naps more often and that is why they are smiling and happy most of the
time. As adults if we get tired physically, emotionally and mentally we will be
affected spiritually. It is prudent to take a quick nap within your busy
schedule of even 20 to 30 minutes to refresh your mind and renew your strength.
Psalms 127:2 MSG says “God enjoys giving rest to those He loves”.
