Romans 12: 1-21

Romans 12:1-21 explains
the kind of life God expects us to live according to His perfect will. This
kind of life requires us to die of self and take up the life of Christ. Our own
self demands us to look at what our body or flesh desires. More often we can
become selfish and only consider what is of interest of us and not others. Our
flesh would want to dwell in sin but God wants us to put on the life of Christ
and live a life that is according to his perfect will as follows:
- Your love for God and others must be sincere
- Hold on to wat is good
- Hate what is evil
- Be devoted to one another in brotherly love
- Honor one another above yourselves
- Never be lazy but work hard
- Serve the Lord your God with a heart full of devotion
- Be joyful in hope-let your joy keep you joyful
- Be patient in your troubles
- Be faithful in prayer- pray at all times
- Share with God’s people who are in need-Be generous
- Practice hospitality
- Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse
- Mourn with those who morn and rejoice with those who rejoice
- Live in harmony with one another-have the same concerns with everyone
- Do not be proud but be willing to associate with people of low position. Accept humble duties.
- Do not think of yourself as wise.
- Do not repay evil for evil
- Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.
- If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
- Do not be overcome by evil, but instead overcome evil with good.
- Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind
Do not think of
yourself more highly than you ought to. Be modesty in your thinking and judge
yourself according to the amount of faith that God has given you.
The above checklist
should help you search within yourself by the help of the Holy Spirit where you
are missing the mark. May the Holy Spirit help us live a life that is pleasing
before our Almighty God.
